Families who play together stay together and there's no greater playground than California. The Golden State has long welcomed families planning big and small gatherings with many of the state's premier destinations and top attractions providing only-in-California activities.
"Family reunions and gatherings are back bigger and better than ever," California Travel and Tourism Commission Executive Director Caroline Beteta said. "Many families are choosing to meet while vacationing in California. The keyword is fun as families enjoy catching up and spending time together."
At Disney's Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, the Orange County Region, parents can arrange for a wake up call for their kids by one of Disney's themed characters. The property is ideally located and within walking distance of The Disneyland Resort, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the "Happiest Celebration On Earth." Kids will also enjoy rooms with bunk beds; there's a standard queen for adults. The property has three pools located in the same courtyard. The main pool, the Redwood Pool, has a slide coming out of a giant redwood stump. Special children's programs include Pinocchio's Workshop for fun, games and crafts.

Lassen Volcanic National Park
Lassen Volcanic National Park is located in Northeastern California at the southern terminus of the Cascade Mountains, approximately 50 miles east of Redding, California. Beneath Lassen Volcanic's peaceful forests and gem-like lakes lies evidence of a turbulent and fiery past. 600,000 years ago, the collision and warping of continental plates led to violent eruptions and the formation of lofty Mt. Tehama.
More about the Volcanic National Park Cerro Gordo Mines Ghost Town
A Spanish name, to be sure. First discovered by Mexican prospectors in 1865, nothing much happened until a Mexican miner showed some silver ore to some mining people in Virginia City. That was all that was needed. An engineer named Mortimer Belshaw took over a mine that was producing lead which Belshaw needed if smelting was to be done at the site of the silver mine. This he did to save the cost of hauling the ore to Los Angeles for smelting and thence to San Pedro.
